About the Event

Geoff Troup from Eder Bros in West Haven returns for a new edition of Old vs New World Wines. The differences in Old World and New World wines come from winemaking practices (tradition) and from the affect of the land and climate on the grapes (the “terroir”).

This wine experience will have you taste 3 wines from Old World regions and 3 wines from New World regions.

The wines from both regions will be the same varietal (same grape).

Learn the distinguishing features and taste the difference terroir makes in wine making.

It's subjective to argue that one style is better than the other, but everyone agrees that they're different. In this class, we will cover:

  • Old World wine philosophy
  • New World wine philosophy
  • Old World wine profiles
  • New World wine profiles
  • The subtle and not so subtle differences
