About the Event

Home to world-famous Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Burgundy (known as Bourgogne in French) is located in eastern France, between Paris in the north and Lyon in the south. The region is largely made up of the hills and valleys to the west of the Saône River. Limestone in the soil contributes to the minerality of Burgundy wines, while the vineyards' hillside locations provide protection from wind and freezing while maximizing soil drainage and exposure to sunshine.

Burgundy is divided into unique climats, or geographic areas with specific terroir.  The complexity of Burgundy can cast fear into the heart of even a seasoned wine pro, but fear not – the region need only be as complicated as you want it to be. Yes, it is home to some of the most expensive wines in the known universe, but there are also tasty and affordable wines.

Wines will be presented by Drinkable Arts Imports.  As a French and American business partnership, Mary & Bill Chedwiggan, aka Drinkable Arts Imports, bring together the best of both worlds and strive to select France’s finest wines, even unearth some hidden treasures, while letting their wine producers share their stories within the U.S. market. With offices located on both sides of the Atlantic in Wallingford, Connecticut and Paris, France, they are bringing wine to your glass with passion.

During this class, we will explore 3 of the 4 grapes varieties from very diverse regions that make Burgundian wines so sought after.
