Gigondas can often times be called the baby of Chateaneuf du Papes considering that they both give center stage to the Grenache varietal and located within the same region. The Le Mas de Flauzieres is a great value and starting point on the road to Chateauneuf. Grape varietals used 70% grenache (age 15-70 years), 20 % syrah (age 15-30 years) and 10% mourvèdre (age 15-30 years). The Grenache offers up some of the cherry, raspberry and plum flavors while the Syrah and Mourvedre in the mix provide some meaty and spice notes with a little black licorice quality in the finish. Totally drinkable now with some decanting.
