Been on this Charbono (aka Bonarda) kick lately trying to spread the good word and raise awareness on this varietal. Yet another great find at a recent tasting. This used to sell at the winery for $30! Estate grown in Calistoga. Medium bodied with dark fruit nose and hints of plum skins and smoke. Earthy, plummy palate with medium acidity. Aged 18 months in a combination in 80/20 American & French oak. This will hold up to heavier, gamey dishes like lamb, substantial pasta dishes etc.
